My 30+ Year Journey in Global Sourcing: From My First Import to Helping SMEs Source Smarter 🌏
Every entrepreneur has a starting point. Mine began in 1993 in Houston, Texas, when I started my first importing business.
My first product was leather tool belts for tradespeople. I took the opportunity to introduce quality products to the market and even exhibited at the Chicago Tool & Hardware Expo, gaining my first experience in international trade, customer needs, product presentation, and building supplier relationships.
After moving to Australia in 2007, my importing journey expanded across multiple industries and countries.
Over the years, I sourced and imported:
• Leather men’s footwear from India
• Stainless steel kitchenware from India
• Surgical instruments from Pakistan
• Manchester and textile products from Pakistan
• Safety boots from India
• Various equipment and products from China
My sourcing journey took me directly to major wholesale markets, including Guangzhou and Yiwu in China, where I learned firsthand the importance of supplier relationships, negotiation, quality control, and understanding market opportunities.
In 2024, I expanded my entrepreneurial journey by establishing an e-commerce business in the UAE, strengthening my connection with one of the world’s leading global trade hubs.
Looking back, the biggest lessons from decades of importing are:
✅ The right supplier relationship matters more than the lowest price.
✅ Quality control protects your brand reputation.
✅ Successful importing requires research, patience, and trust.
✅ Small businesses can access global opportunities with the right guidance.
Today, through Zyneri Global Procurement, I use this experience to help SMEs and entrepreneurs source products with confidence from China and Dubai.
My mission is simple:
Help businesses reduce sourcing risks, build reliable supply chains, and grow through ethical global trade.
If you are an entrepreneur exploring international sourcing, I would be happy to connect.
